This mixed media animal portrait was made using paper clay, polymer clay, toilet paper, modge podge, acrylic paint and pastels. The reason/story behind the name is, while I was making the armature using wire for the top jaw, aluminum foil and packaging tape, everything lined up where the jaws would meet naturally. However, once I began using the paper clay (a new medium for me and is different slightly than air dry clay) things...began to .... not align anymore lol. But by the time I noticed this, the clay was dry and, yea, it was beyond the point of no return. So, I changed the name from Bruce (which is the name of the first animatronic for the movie Jaws) to Overbite because he's got an overbite now lol.
Below are some of the process images I took as I made everything. Sadly I didn't make the jaws first, THEN attach it to the canvas. *face palm*. I attached the armature jaws FIRST to the canvas, which I had already added small waves going in the wrong direction *face palm* from where the jaws, then proceeded from there. Yea, wont be doing that again!
To help show that the top jaw does not fully attach to the canvas.
