The Starving Artist is a self portrait I made using acrylic paint, acrylic spray paints, Posca markers, charcoal and graphite. I also used alcohol spray to create the effects in the background. I wanted to leave specific assets in color and in slightly different styles, while leaving the face and hand in black and white I also wanted to “dirty” my face up for the portrait (which I did using charcoal as well as enhanced digitally) to help show the “starving artist” image - basically, try to make myself look even more like a bum than I already look 😂
